Mission Events

The fourth annual Mission Sunday was held on May 1, 2011.  This year, Rev Mario Navarra Waukesha's Hispanic Mission Church delivered the message.  After worship members enjoyed a lunch while having an opportunity to learn more about Rev Navarra's mission, as well as other mission groups from prior years.

The youth, along with members of the congregation, worked at the Gathering on Saturday, February 26th.  During February coffee was collected for The Gathering.  During March, money placed in the tower will go to the Family Promise Ministry.

In 2010, inspirational Christian musician, Bryan Sirchio, performed a concert to benefit Haiti.  Bryan has worked in Haiti for just about 20 years. He has been in Haiti since the earthquake and knows, first hand, the kinds of assistance the people need.

The first Sunday of each month has always been designated for food ingathering for the Slinger Food Pantry.  Donations are accepted on any Sunday.

The third annual Mission Sunday was held on April 25, 2010.  This year, Mark Behle from Lesotho in the southern part of Africa delivered the message.  Mark is a high school math teacher and also does Bible study with the people of Lesotho.  After lunch, Dr. Behle showed slides and held a question and answer session on life in Lesotho.

The second annual local Mission Sunday was on May 3rd in 2009.  Representatives from Albrecht Free Clinic and from the Gathering gave presentations during worship.  These people, along with representatives from Habitat for Humanity and Interfaith Care Givers were available to answer any questions before and after worship that Sunday.  Members of the congregation brought coins which were collected during the service in a special offering.   This offering was given to these groups to assist them in their local mission work. A dinner followed the worship service.

The Lenten Denial offering in past years has been distributed to Habitat for Humanity of Washington County, Interfaith Caregivers, Albrecht Free Clinic, and The Gathering.

During December, coffee, warm socks, mittens and adult hats were collected for The Gathering in Milwaukee.

The Neighbors in Need offering was received on October 3rd.  NIN supports the UCC ministries of justice and compassion throughout the United States.

One Great Hour of Sharing helps families and villages around the world to build lives and communities that are healthy, safe and sustainable. Sharing our resources can really change lives!  The OGHS gifts were dedicated during worship on April 3rd.
