Advent Worship
Advent, the season of preparation for Christ’s birth, begins November 29.

 Sunday Worship
Hark the Glad Sound

In this season filled with music, the Hark the Glad Sound services will focus on the bible songs of God’s people as they awaited the Savior.  Each week, we’ll be learning about a song from Scripture that highlights an Advent activity that will prepare us for Christ’s coming among us as a baby in Bethlehem.

November 29:  The Song of Zechariah, which revealed that his son would be a prophet sent to prepare the way of the Lord.  Repentance is the Advent discipline for the day.

December 6:  The Song of Mary, which declares that God remembered his covenant with us through his Son.  Remembering is the Advent discipline for the day.

December 13:  The Song of the Angels, that announced with great joy the Good News of Christ’s birth.  Rejoicing is the Advent discipline for the day.

December 20:  The Song of the Church carries the angels’ message of peace, good will to all, to all the world.  Reconciliation is the Advent discipline for the day.

Wednesday Worship
The Word and the Wonder

Wednesday evenings in Advent, we’ll consider the wonder of the Word made flesh, our Savior Jesus Christ.  These informal worship services will be held in Fellowship Hall, and we’ll think on the response of four Nativity Story characters to the news that the Word was coming into the world.  Worship begins at 7 pm

December 2:  The Word of Zechariah

December 9:  The Word for Mary

December 16:  The Word for Joseph

December 23:  The Word for Simeon and Anna

Christmas Eve & Christmas Day

Christmas Eve Candlelight Worship:  Children, Youth and Families of the congregation will present the Christmas program, Sing a Song of Christmas! at 7 pm.  On this night when we welcome Christ in scripture and song, we’ll also learn about the history and meaning of many of the familiar songs we sing at Christmas.  We’ll have a carol sing and close worship with singing Silent Night by candlelight.

Christmas Day Worship:  The incredible message of Christ’s birth is proclaimed in the triumphant strains of Joy to the World.  The message of this carol is woven throughout this 10:00 AM worship service.  Communion will also be celebrated at this service on this glorious day.
